Coin Collecting in Your Gainesville Apartment

Coin collecting is an enjoyable hobby for people worldwide. Finding rare coins can be an exciting treasure hunt and highly rewarding. While many serious collectors spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on rare coins, you can start a collection by just going through your pocket change.

With a little searching, you can find many unique coins in circulation, including:

  • 50 State quarters – These coins were minted from 1999 – 2008 and are some of the most popular coins for people starting a collection since they are still easily found in circulation. Each state has a unique design which makes them interesting and recognizable.
  • Bicentennial quarters – These coins were minted in 1975 and 1976 to celebrate the 200th year of American independence. The tail of the coin features a revolutionary drummer and the ever-lasting flame surrounded by 13 stars represents the original colonies. While much rarer than the 50 State quarters, bicentennial quarters can still be readily found in circulation.
  • Wheat pennies – These pennies were produced between 1909 and 1958. Rather than the Lincoln Memorial that most of us are used to seeing on pennies, these have two stalks of wheat. 1943 coins are especially interesting since they are made from steel rather than copper or zinc.
  • Indian nickel – These nickels were made between 1913 and 1938, and feature an Indian on the head and Buffalo on the tail. These are very rare in modern circulation but they can still show up from time to time.

Keep a close eye out and you may find more unique and exciting coins to add to your collection. You may even find some rare coins in change you have laying around your Gainesville apartment. “The scenery and space is amazing. The apartment leasing staff and maintenance staff are wonderful. I love that its a gated community and all though it's family and student oriented it's still extremely quiet.”
“This is a quiet gated community with nice apartments located in a great area.”
“We just moved in about a month ago. We had maintenance in so many times trying to get things set up for my disabled son - but they never complained. The grounds are beautiful. The people in the office are always polite and helpful. Very happy here.”
