How to Keep Electronic Screens Clean in Your Gainesville Apartment

Most people can’t get through a day without seeing some sort of screen, whether it’s on their cell phone, computer, television, or another device. Whether you’re catching the season premiere of your favorite show or checking the Caller ID on an incoming phone call, it’s important that whatever screen you’re using be clean enough to provide a clear image. However, water or window cleaner may do more harm than good if used to clean sensitive electronics, so it pays to use the right products and to know proper screen cleaning techniques.

This first and most important thing to remember is that not all screens require the same type of cleaning. For example, any old CRT or “tube” televisions and screens will likely need to be cleaned more often since they produce more static electricity, and therefore collect more dust, than modern plasma and LCD models. There may also be a difference in screen material, such as plastic or glass, which requires different treatments. Be sure to read the manufacturer’s instructions for your device to determine if any substance could potentially harm the screen.

Once you have chosen a cleaning solution that is safe to use on the screen you plan to clean, you’ll want to find an appropriate way to both apply and remove the cleanser. In most cases a small spray bottle will be enough for application but in some cases you may need to use a moistened towel or cloth to apply your cleaner. In fact, many office and computer supply stores even carry disposable wipes that are specifically designed for screen cleaning. If you’d rather have a cleaning tool you can easily reuse, microfiber cloths make a perfect option due to their absorbency and softness.

When you’re ready to clean, begin by dusting. Dusting your screens with a dry cloth will help you minimize the amount of cleaning solution you’ll need. Then, using the bottle of cleaning solution and cloth or a disposable wipe, apply a small amount of cleaner directly to any remaining grime and keep a dry cloth handy to prevent any large drips from running to the edges of the screen. Gently wipe the spot clean to avoid scratching and always be sure to thoroughly dry the area before turning the screen back on.

“We just moved in about a month ago. We had maintenance in so many times trying to get things set up for my disabled son - but they never complained. The grounds are beautiful. The people in the office are always polite and helpful. Very happy here.”
