Learning About Cold and Heat Therapy at Our Apartments for Rent in Gainesville, FL

To find quick relief from pain, many people use the easy method of using heat or cold therapy. Doing so can help to speed up the recovery process and help the sufferer get back to his or her normal day-to-day life quickly. But, how does one know when to use heat therapy or cold therapy? Though it’s always a good idea to consult a doctor before beginning a therapy regimen or if symptoms persist for more than a few days, below, we’ve helped break down the differences between these two options:

    • Heat therapy – Heat can help to enhance blood flow, relaxing sore or stiff joints. People should use heat for chronic pain, such as from arthritis, headaches, sprained ligaments, or tendinosis. Some options for heat therapy include heating pads; hot, damp towels; or hot water bottles. (If using a heat pad or hot water bottle, be sure to wrap it in a towel before applying to your body.) In general, people limit themselves to 15 to 20 minutes of heat therapy.
    • Cold therapy – If the injured area is red, inflamed, or sensitive, using ice to control inflammation and swelling is best. Ice works by numbing the injury, slowing down blood flow and reducing fluid buildup. Some options for cold therapy include ice packs, bags of frozen vegetables, or ice towels (a damp towel that is sealed in plastic and placed in the freezer for 15 minutes). Areas should only be iced for 20 minutes at a time.

“The scenery and space is amazing. The apartment leasing staff and maintenance staff are wonderful. I love that its a gated community and all though it's family and student oriented it's still extremely quiet.”
“This is a quiet gated community with nice apartments located in a great area.”
“We just moved in about a month ago. We had maintenance in so many times trying to get things set up for my disabled son - but they never complained. The grounds are beautiful. The people in the office are always polite and helpful. Very happy here.”
