Testing a Smoke Alarm in Our Gainesville, Florida Apartments

Each apartment at Bellamay Grand is equipped with a smoke alarm as required by law. Technology doesn’t always work perfectly 100 percent of the time, though. Parts can be defective and batteries wear down with time, so it is highly important that residents of our Gainesville, Florida apartments regularly test their smoke alarms to ensure that they are functioning properly.

Follow these steps to test your smoke alarm in our Gainesville, Florida apartments:

  • Have a friend, family member, or relative stand inside your apartment, but as far away from the smoke alarm as possible to ensure that the alarm will be heard throughout your unit
  • Stand on a sturdy support, and push and hold the alarm’s test button for a few seconds to make sure the alarm is functioning and to find out if the sound is loud enough
  • Spray some smoke alarm test aerosol spray near the alarm – this should trigger the alarm to function as it would in the case of a fire
  • Use a small hand-held vacuum to suck out the aerosol spray and silence the alarm

Repeat this process about once each month to ensure that the alarm is always working properly. If you have any questions about your smoke alarm or require service on it, please contact our leasing office.

“The scenery and space is amazing. The apartment leasing staff and maintenance staff are wonderful. I love that its a gated community and all though it's family and student oriented it's still extremely quiet.”
“This is a quiet gated community with nice apartments located in a great area.”
“We just moved in about a month ago. We had maintenance in so many times trying to get things set up for my disabled son - but they never complained. The grounds are beautiful. The people in the office are always polite and helpful. Very happy here.”
