Hot Water Safety for Our Apartments in Gainesville, Florida

When stepping into the shower or washing dishes, most of us are not worried about getting burned. However, hot water has the ability to burn like fire and thousands of injuries occur each year due to scalding by excessively hot tap water.

According to the Home Safety Council, it only takes one second for a child under the age of five to receive third degree burns from water over 140 degrees. We want all residents of our Gainesville apartments to keep safety a priority for their family and friends. Therefore, we hope you will heed this advice and move safety to the top of your list!

  • Test the water before you or your children step into the bath or shower.
  • Turn pot handles in.
  • Never carry a child and a hot drink at the same time.
  • Always watch children closely when in the bath.
  • Keep children far from the stove when cooking.
  • Hot tap water should not be above 120 degrees.
  • Treat a minor burn with cool running water for 3 to 5 minutes.

If you have any questions about the temperature of the water coming out of your hot water heater, please call our office and we will be happy to discuss your concerns. Thank you in advance for making safety a priority in our community.

“The scenery and space is amazing. The apartment leasing staff and maintenance staff are wonderful. I love that its a gated community and all though it's family and student oriented it's still extremely quiet.”
“This is a quiet gated community with nice apartments located in a great area.”
“We just moved in about a month ago. We had maintenance in so many times trying to get things set up for my disabled son - but they never complained. The grounds are beautiful. The people in the office are always polite and helpful. Very happy here.”
