Helping Yourself Wake Up on Time at Our Apartments in Gainesville, Florida

Waking up on time can sometimes be a real challenge, especially if you have a hectic schedule and have not gotten as much sleep as you need. While being properly rested is the easiest and healthiest way to ensure that you’re alert and ready to take on the world when it’s time to get out of bed, sometimes getting seven to eight hours of sleep a night isn’t an option.

Fortunately, there are several techniques that you can use to help your body wake up on time. Some of the most effective are:

    • Set a rhythm – Your body’s circadian rhythm can be very precise if properly trained, so do your best to go to sleep and wake up at exactly the same time each day. If you do this, soon you will be waking up almost automatically, feeling less groggy and greater at ease.
    • Find the right alarm – Some people respond better to loud, harsh alarms, while others prefer radio alarms or sounds that help them to gradually wake up. If you don’t already know from past experience what wakes you up most effectively, experiment with different settings or sounds on your alarm clock or phone until you’ve found the alarm that works best for you. Also, remember to position the alarm away from your bed so that you have to get up to turn it off.
    • Adjust your sleep cycles – The human sleep cycle is about 90 minutes, so if you adjust your sleep duration to a multiple of 90 minutes (for example, 6, 7.5, or 9 hours) you’ll wake up at the end of a cycle, which will leave you feeling more awake and rested. As a part of this principle, if you naturally wake up a few minutes before your alarm rings, then take it as a sign that your body’s natural cycle has completed, and get up. At this point, staying in bed for an extra five minutes will likely make you drowsier when you do get up.
    • Help yourself overcome drowsiness – There are several ways to get up in the morning that will help give a jolt to your system. Turn on some of your favorite music to get you moving, and take a shower before breakfast to help get your circulation flowing. Once you step out the shower, have a cup of coffee or tea to help you shake off the last vestiges of your sleepiness.

“We just moved in about a month ago. We had maintenance in so many times trying to get things set up for my disabled son - but they never complained. The grounds are beautiful. The people in the office are always polite and helpful. Very happy here.”
